Call for Special Session Proposals (CLOSED)

The DIMEA 2008 Organising Committee invites proposals for Special Sessions at DIMEA 2008 - the 3rd International Conference on Digital Interactive Media in Entertainment and Arts, to be held on September 10-12, 2008 at Athens Information Technology (AIT) in Athens, Greece.

DIMEA 2008, organised in cooperation with ACM, is the premier forum for the presentation of societal, business and technological advances and research results in cross-disciplinary areas related to the use of digital interactive media in entertainment, arts and creative technologies. This conference is dedicated to building common ground between research, design and development, learning and collaboration, demonstrating new areas of application, and incorporating leading edge technologies, designs and models in digital gaming.

DIMEA 2008 Special Sessions are aimed to provide an opportunity for presentation of case-studies and research directions and for exchange of ideas in specific technical fields and application areas of digital interactive media in entertainment and arts.

GENERAL RULES

Each Special Session should consist of 4-5 papers following the same style as regular DIMEA papers. To ensure high quality of the contributions, all papers submitted to an approved Special Session will be reviewed using the same procedure and criteria as regular papers. At least one author for each accepted paper must register for the conference and present the paper during the Special Session.

The organizers’ role is to prepare and distribute the call for papers, suggest reviewers for the Session, post recommendations for the approval or rejection of papers based on the collected reviews, and chair the Session.

The submission and review of papers for the approved Special Sessions will be conducted through the same on-line system used for regular papers. The final approval of papers will be performed by the Technical Program Chairs of DIMEA 2008 based on the recommendations of the Special Session organizers.

If the number of papers submitted or accepted for a Special Session is not sufficient, the Special Session will be cancelled and papers will be transferred to the regular Sessions.

STRUCTURE OF PROPOSALS AND EVALUATION PROCEDURE
The following information should be included in each Special Session proposal:

  • Title of the proposed Session;
  • An introduction stating the importance of the topic and the rationale for the proposed Session;
  • Information about organizer(s) including brief bio and contact information;
  • Tentative/confirmed list of papers (titles/affiliations /authors) to be submitted to the Special Session (optional).

Each proposal will be evaluated based on the significance of the topic and its relevance to DIMEA, potential interest to the conference attendees and the degrees to which the Session may bring together key researchers in the area, further develop the area, and introduce the area to the larger community.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE FOR SPECIAL SESSIONS PROPOSALS
